Introduction

Division of Economics of Suwon University aims to foster future leaders required of in the global economic environment with proactive and creative leadership. In the Division, there are a major in 'Economics and Finance' and a major in 'International Development and Cooperation', and students can learn not only professional knowledge in economics and finance but also get opportunities to experience on- site education.

'Economics and Finance' major provides economic and financial knowledge necessary for the development of local community and national economy as well as necessary for individual lives, and enables students to improve their insights to understand actual economy and financial environment and predict future economy. In the global economic environment based on market economy, economics and finance are indivisible. Therefore the Division is covering both advanced economics such as micro and macro economics, labor, industrial economics and financial education including corporate finance, financial economics, international finance, financial market analysis at the same time so as to react to rapidly changing economic environment. Moreover, the Division seeks to nurture sound economists and specialists who satisfy labor demand in the multiplied economic fields and assume an important role with practical abilities. Graduates of the division can be found in various fields including bank, insurance company, securities company, as well as government offices and public corporations.

'International Development and Cooperation' major aims to foster global leaders who will proactively work in the field of international development and cooperation which is recently expanding globally. Republic of Korea, which is the only country that used to be a donee but became one of the doners, is one of the leading countries that assume a great role in international development and cooperation and needs more and more participants. This major, established in 2012 as the first major in Korea, seeks to foster small number of well-educated students who are competent in international context. Graduates from 2016 are working in institutions they like including KOICA, NGOs, government offices, etc. Students of this major continuously and regularly consult with supervisors, and take relevant classes, experience various activities, do volunteer services and learn foreign languages. Professors with various international experience support students to apply their academic knowledge and experience in career development.
